The Mauricewood Bike Bus is our first flagship programme: a safe, supervised cycle-to-school service for primary-aged children in the Mauricewood area.
Using electric-assisted cargo bikes and supported by trained youth workers and parent volunteers, the Bike Bus helps children start their day with energy, independence, and a sense of belonging. The Bike Bus travels from Belwood Road to Mauricewood Primary, following quiet residential streets through Torrence Medway, Pine Grove, Stevenson Road, Namur Road, Boyd Avenue, and Meikle Drive — designed for maximum safety and accessibility.
Each morning, children will join the guided route, cycling or riding safely to school alongside peers and mentors. On arrival, they’ll be greeted with a healthy breakfast, ready to learn and thrive.
The price is £1 per child per journey, which includes breakfast and supervision. All interested families must commit to two journeys per day, five days a week, equating to just £10. Surplus funds are reinvested into equipment, subsidised places, and future expansion.
